The Valuators of the Shyre of Aberdein undersubscryveand, Be vertue of the Commission Granted to them By the Lords of His Maties [Majesties] privie Counsell of the dait the fyfth day of August Jajvic& [1600 &] Thriescor Threttein years [5 Aug 1673] and Severall prorogations of the Samen haveing mett diverss and Sundrie Tymes be vertue theroff And haveing used all possible Indevours for finding out the true and reall rents of all Lands Teynds and vthers Lying within the Said Shyre, Conforme to the Tenor of the Said Commissione and power therby Granted to them And haveing at Last mett at Aberdein upon the Twentie Sixth Day of octor [October] Jajvic& [1600 &] thriescor fourtein years [26 Oct 1674] for receiving ane accompt from the Severall Commissioners who wer appoynted to examine the rents of the rexive [respective] presbitries upon oath and otherwayes And for concludeing the Said matter, Doe unanimouslie ratifie and approve the valuation of the Shyre befor wreitten as the Samen is divyded in presbitries and Sett down in maner mentioned in this forgoeing book Containing [blank] Leaves, Each page wherof is Subd [subscrived] be Sir George Gordon of Haddo Knight barronet our preses for the tyme. And ilk totall Sowm of everie presbitrie is Subd [subscrived] be ane quorum of us the Saids Commissioners And the totall of which valuation of the Said Shyre extends to the Sowm of Two hundreth Threttie Six thousand Two hundreth and fourtie pund Threttein shilling nyn penies Scots money, And heirby the Saids Commissioners doe appoynt and declair the forsd [foresaid] valuation to be the rule wherby all Cess and other publick burdens dew and payable furth of the Said Shyre efter the first of november next, and wherof the terme of payment is not yet elapsed Sall be proportioned and Laid on upon the forsds [foresaids] heritors conforme therto, And they annull and discharge all and whatsomever former valuations as null and of no use in all tyme heir efter. Scottish Exchequer (Tax Records)

The Scottish Exchequer, and subsequently the Court of Exchequer, were concerned with the accounting of collected taxes in Scotland. These taxes include the Carriage tax (1785-1798), Cart tax (1785-1798), Clock and watch tax (1797-1798), Dog tax (1797-1798), Farm horse tax (1797-1798), Servant tax (1777-1798), Hearth tax (1691-1695), Horse tax (1785-1798), Inhabited house tax (1778-1798), Land tax (1645-1831), Poll tax (1694-1698), Shop tax (1785-1789), Window tax (1748-1798). Following the Consolidating Acts (38 Geo. III cap. 40 and 41), the duties on windows, inhabited houses, male servants, carts, carriages and dogs were incorporated in Consolidated Schedules of Assessed Taxes (1798-1799).
