By 2005 all Scottish Cabinet Records were created and stored digitally (e.g. as Word or Excel documents, emails, etc.) rather than as paper documents. The digital records that are more than 15 years old are now available as PDF copies with their original document titles. The start and end dates given for each individual record is taken from the covering dates of the electronic files in which the records were originally stored.

Enter a document reference (for example SCR14/2/1), or leave this field blank and search for documents within a date range, by record creator and/or by adding a keyword in the 'Search for' box.
If you know the year that you are looking for make sure this is entered into the first year range box with a later year in the second year range box (putting the same year in both boxes doesn’t always bring up the desired results).
If you are unsure of the year then make your year range search as wide as possible to ensure optimal results.
Select a specific Scottish Cabinet group or committee from the drop-down list, or select All to search all groups and committees.
Search record descriptions using keyword or phrase.
