Poser 344 - Register of Deeds, 1686
This poser is the first of two extracts taken from the Register of Deeds (National Records of Scotland, RD2/67, page 338). This bond dates from 1686 and details the amount of money being owed between two parties.
This Bond contains examples of legal terminology found in many Scottish legal documents. Watch out for this, as much of the legal terminology has been abbreviated. An example of this appears near the end of line 1 where procurator is written as pror.
Within the handwriting itself, there are many cases of letter interference where the writer has added flourishes at the end of words. There is also the use of the 'th' ligature, for example line 7 the sum.
