Inverkip kirk session

A church court that sat within the presbytery of Greenock and the synod of Glasgow and Ayr. Inverkip Parish church belonged, prior to the reformation, to the Abbey of Paisley. Ministry of the kirk session is recorded from 1574. Part of the parish was removed in 1857 to form the quoad sacra parish of Gourock. The parish was later sometimes referred to as Inverkip East to differentiate it from the former United Free Church parish of Inverkip West.
