You can use credits to view and save some records on Scotland’s People.

What you can use credits for

You can use credits to access:

• births over 100 years old
• marriages over 75 years old
• deaths over 50 years old

You can also use credits to save copies of free records or print copies at the Scotland’s People Centre.

What you cannot use credits for

You cannot use credits to pay for certificates, items from our online shop, or to book seats in our search rooms.

You also cannot use credits to access modern records. These are:

• births less than 100 years old
• marriages less than 75 years old
• deaths less than 50 years old

Make sure the record you want is not a modern record before buying credits.
