Paisley

A parish in the county of Renfrew. It was a quoad omnia parish (a parish for civil and religious purposes). In 1898 Paisley parish absorbed the neighbouring parish of Abbey for civil purposes.

Paisley presbytery

A Church of Scotland presbytery. It was in the synod of Glasgow and Ayr. In 1834 several of its parishes were removed to the presbytery of Greenock.

Roslin burgh

Roslin was granted burgh status in 1456, and retained this until 1975. Roslin was also a quoad sacra parish (a parish for purely ecclesiastical purposes) from 1834 onwards.
