Colonsay and Oronsay

A parish in the county of Argyll. It was a civil parish from 1861 until 1975. Prior to 1861 Colonsay and Oronsay were in the parish of Jura.

Colonsay and Oronsay

Two islands in the Inner Hebrides, separated at high tide and also the name of a parish in the county of Argyll. Prior to 1861 Colonsay and Oronsay were in the parish of Jura. Not to be confused with the island of Little Colonsay, in the parish of Kilninian, the island of Colsay in Shetland, Oronsay, a tidal island of South Uist, or Oronsay in the mouth of Loch Sunart, for which see Oronsay (Morvern).

Oronsay

The name of several tidal islands. The largest is to the south of Colonsay (see Colonsay and Oronsay). For other significant ones see Oronsay (Morvern), Isleornsay and South Uist.

Oronsay (Morvern)

A tidal island in the mouth of Loch Sunart, in the parish of Morvern and the county of Argyll. It was sometimes known as Oransay. Not to be confused with several other Oronsays (see Oronsay), or the isle of Orsay, Argyll, or the island of Ornsay (sometimes also known as Oronsay) in the county of Inverness.
