Abbey St Bathans

Dumfries presbytery

A Church of Scotland presbytery. It was in the synod of Dumfries and originally consisted, under the name of the presbytery of Nithsdale, of all the parishes in that synod but at some point prior to 1638 it was divided into the four separate presbyteries of Annan (or Middlebie), Dumfries, Lochmaben and Penpont (or Sanquhar). In the twentieth century it was joined with Penpont to form the presbytery of Dumfries and Penpont.

Dumfries synod

A Church of Scotland synod. It contained the presbyteries of Annan, Dumfries, Langholm, Lochmaben, Middlebie, and Penpont.

St Andrews

A parish in the county of Fife. It was a quoad omnia parish (a parish for civil and religious purposes). The boundaries of the civil parish were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891. In 1895 the parish combined with the parish of St Leonards to form the united parish of St Andrews and St Leonards.
