Barra

A parish in the county of Inverness. It was a quoad omnia parish (a parish for civil and religious purposes). The island of Barra is in the Outer Hebrides, and the parish includes the surrounding islands. The parish was erected in 1733, when it was disjoined from South Uist.

Barra

An island in the Outer Hebrides and also a parish, in the county of Inverness. It was sometimes known as Barray. Do not confuse with the island of Burra (Shetland) and Burray (Orkney).

Flodday (East Barra)

An island in the Outer Hebrides, in the parish of Barra and the county of Inverness. Not to be confused with many other islands called Flodday, Flodda, Fladda or Fladday, for which see under Fladda.
