Argyll

A county in the west of Scotland, also known as Argyllshire. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.

Argyll synod

A Church of Scotland synod. It contained the presbyteries of Abertarff, Dunoon, Inveraray, Islay and Jura, Kintyre, Lorn, and Mull. Several of its presbyteries were disjoined to form the synod of Glenelg in 1724.
