009 | A large flat rock, approaching an oval shape, situated at the point where the North side of "Loch Goyle" joins "Loch Long". At high water this rock is surrounded by the sea, and at low water forms a peninsula. About 30 years ago when fish were more plentiful in the Loch this rock was the frequent resort of seals which were in the habit of scrambling to the top of it and there basking in the rays of the sun, which accounts for the name . It is equally well known as "Carraig nan Ron" or as the "Dog Rock". |

Ordnance Survey - Dunbarton county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Dunbarton, which is in the west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
