Co. [County] of Caithness -- Parish of Halkirk
[Note Ach Hacon] -- Hacon is a corruption of Hacou. Earl Hacou was one of the Earls of Orkney in 1100
along with Earl Magnus. '' We have no tradition concerning Earl Hacou. The
only mention of his name is preserved by the two following particulars:- There
is at the Milton of Leurarie in the parish of HalKirk, in Caithness, a field called Auchtu Hacou,
or Hacou's field, and near it there is another field called *Croit na Hblanich*, or the field of the
Scots. If there was a battle there we have no account of it; but it is very probable that two armies

* Croit na Hblanich is not now known.
This Earl Hacou was he who caused the death of St. Magnus
in the Isle of Eglisha where they appointed to meet, to a conference in the year 1110
each having two ships. Earl Hacou, however did not stand
