Absence from home has prevented
me from answering your note of
[enquiry] of 30th ult. sooner. I
[enclose] letter from the Rev. [Reverend] James
Macpherson Minister of the Established
Church in the parish. From
[enquiries] made here & elsewhere
[I] find that the generally
accepted spelling of the names
is "Duncansbay & Canisbay" &
this agrees with the spelling
in the Parish Session Records
