012 | This name applies to a small mound which is generally supposed to be a "Pictish House" and is situated on the "Sordal Hill". Several stone cists have been found in this cairn when removing some of the earth from its summit, and one almost complete is still visible. There are several large stones fixed into the ground at the south east base of this cairn, but for what purpose they were placed here no one can say. Mr Gunn, Schoolmaster, Reay says that he has seen some of these cists removed, and he believes this mound to be a burial cairn, and not a "Pictish House". |
