012 | About six years ago while the present tenant of Hall of Bowermadden was removing this mound or Pictish House a quantity of Deers' Horns and bones of animals were discovered Also a number of Querns and other large stones with holes half way through them, which are supposed to have served to dress the grain before puting it into the querns. Some 50 years or so ago stones of this construction are said to have been used, throughout the country, for making, or rather dressing barley for cooking purposes. |
