It is believed that an engagement with the Danes took place about here, and that the ground called Arrdanes was the position of that portion of the Danish Army which was armed with Arrows. At a short distance from here (in the Parish of Banff) is some rising ground called Swordanes, and is believed to have been occupied by another portion of the Danish army armed with swords.
