| BRIDGEFOOT | Bridgefoot | Mr Sydney Smith, Thriepland. Mr Hepburn, Auds Mr Forsythe, Sawmill, Bridgefoot. |
004.11 | This name applies to a few scattered dwelling houses about the small bridge which crosses the burn of Boyndie near the ruins of the old KirK of Boyndie. This place is generally called "Bridgefoot of Boyndie" although some of the houses to which the name refers are in the Parish of Banff. Mr Hepburn who has been a Schoolmaster in the Parish & Forsythe who belongs to this place (the two authorities given above) added "of Boyndie" to the name Bridgefoot. Bridgefoot of Boyndie, however, is not used in contradistinction to some other place called Bridgefoot, but because the people of this parish & neighbourhood are in habit of adding "of Boyndie" to many names in the parish. |

Ordnance Survey - Banff county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Banff, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
