| TUMULI (Remains of) [Dryburn] | Tumuli (Remains of) | James Watt Esq. Auchenhalrig William Geddes Auchenhalrig John Keith Boghead |
001.15 | On the left bank of Dry Burn may be seen the remains of three Sepulchral mounds, or tumuli: They consisted of rich mould: surrounded by a considerable quantity of Small Stones and in the centre of each there was a considerable quantity of charcoal and wood ashes. A few years ago, these tumuli were defaced by James Watt Esqr. Auchenhalrig, when brining this part of his farm under the plough. They are supposed to have had some connection with a Druidical circle, which stands a short distance north W [West] of them. |

Ordnance Survey - Banff county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Banff, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
