016.13 | Very little is known about the early history of this Castle. it is supposed to have been built about the fifteenth century and used as a Baronial residence of several families, not connected with history, no portion of the original building now remains, but from a stone built in the wall we learn that it was rebuilt and roofed by Thomas Donaldson and Elizabeth Duff in 1725. this part of the building is loopholed for musketry. its postion is naturally strong, but it is not known to have been strengthened by outworKs or in any other way. A modern addition has been recently made and it is now a very pleasant country residence. The Earl of Fife is proprietor. [continued on page 94] |

Ordnance Survey - Banff county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Banff, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
