"The prevailing Soil is loam and clay; the rest of it is light. It is in general fertile in its productions, though, on account of its depth and moisture, it is commonly late in bringing them to maturity. Limestone is to be had in abundance, on almost every farm, with plenty of peats at a moderate distance for converting it to the purposes of building or agriculture." Old Statistical Account |

Ordnance Survey - Banff county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Banff, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
