030 | [Situation] Near the Western Boundary of the Parish.- A small Village, a portion of which is Situated on the road leading from Whithorn to Kirkinner and part along one side of the road to Garlieston from its junction with the road leading from Whithorn to Kirkinner and about 4 miles from the former place. It contains about 460 Inhabitants, two Public houses, four Small Grocers' Shops and a few Mechanics. It has also a Parish Church & Free Church with a Schoolhouse for the use of the children of each denomination. It is the property of the Earl of Galloway. |
