023 | [Situation] - In the South of the Ph. [Parish] of Old Luce Northern part of Luce Bay 1 1/2 miles from Glenluce - A part of Luce Bay at the junction of Luce river, the above place is long used as a harbour or landing place for vessels of light tonnage from 60 to 70 tons burden . The cargoes imported are generally lime coal & such like. The exports are agricultural produce potatoes, oats etc. There is no quay or harbour built here which makes it very inconvenient for landing goods but lately a handsome quay has been built about a mile to the north of it which is apt to supervise it altogether . |
