" In the old parish of Inch there were two Chapels : 1st. St. John's Chapel, which
Stood at the South end of Loch Ryan, at the east end of the Burgh of Stranraer
This Chapel was in ruins in 1684---- A piece of law which belongs thereto was called St. John's Croft. And a
copious Spring of soft water which rises within the floodmark is still called St. John's Well "
