015 | Camps Graves . So Call'd from the Supposition. That there has been near carried on here & that the dead which fell therby . or intered here. Ainslie on his map of Wigtonshire Calls this place. Kemps Walks . Sir Andrew Agnew Bt. [Baronet] on whoes lands this place is Situated calls it A Roman encampment . & as it has all the appearance of A Fortification of some sort. And I should think of Danish Construction from its close resemblance to earth mounds or fences throwen up round Some of these Forts in Ireland, nature has done a great deal for this place in respect of Strength. from its particular Situation . Being on a tolerable elevated head land . the West of Which falls very Steep towards the Sea. The South Side is also very Steep falling off towards A deep glen & stream. the North East Side of this Enclosure where it is Approached from the Main land .
