104 | In the Ph. [Parish] of Rogart. Applies to six stones, three of which are standing the remainder lying, they are placed in a circle about eleven feet in diameter, and on a small mound situate in a arable field adjacent to "Pittentrail Inn." I can get no information here concerning them. The following is taken from New Statistical Account. At a place called Corrie, where there are indication of the existence in former times of oak trees imperfect remains of a Druidical circle are to be seen. The inhabitants quite unconscious of the sacrilege, finding the stones composing it suitable, carried them away for the purposes of building, so that but a few of them are now to be seen. |
