When in Tongue about 6 yrs [years] ago I heard from an old native whom I met in the Church yard there that the Mountain called Ben Hope should be Bheinn an Oba, 'The Mountain of the Creek or inlet'. This he explained by referring to the Creek into which the river runs saying that the river was named from the Creek, the loch from the river & the Mountain from the loch. This I noted at the time (without of course any reference to Ordnance work) & on seeing said site lately I thought it superceded all further inquiry. While
