Parish of Alva
Extract from Statistical Account of Stirlingshire.
"A few years since while some persons were digging in the
northern part of the parish, probably the site of the earliest
building here, and called Strude, they excavated a number
of human remains." The spot where these remains were
found has been identified by the examiner as the present
site of Lower Strude Mill.
