30-3-20 | Consists of two Small Apartments which are Situated on the 2nd. & 3rd. Storeys of the Steeple, and are ascended by a narrow Spiral Stone Staircase which is very indifferently lighted. Although it is legalised as a Gaol, yet it is strictly speaking nothing more or less than a Lock-up, in as much as there is no Airing ground, Beds, or many other little conveniences which are to be found in Ordinary Gaols. Prisoners can only be Kept in it for the space of 10 days, and are all sent to Stirling immediately after Conviction, it is supported by the County of Stirling, the Gaoler is also Paid by the County. |
