024.09 | This Roman Road, which is of considerable extent, leaves the Wall of Antoninus at Thomfuirhill, in the parish of Falkirk, and taking a northerly direction through the Co. [County] of Stirling, stretches far into Perthshire. No information in connection with it can be obtained in this locality, as there is not a vestige of the portion passing through the parish of Dunipace to be traced. It is generally supposed that it was along this road the English troops were marched to encounter the Scotch at the famous battle of Bannockburn in 1314, no other road existing in the locality at the time. |

Ordnance Survey - Stirling county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Stirling, which is in central Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
