001.05 | This name applies to a lighthouse situate on a dangerous cluster of rocks at the north end of the island of Unst It was erected in 1857 by Messrs Stevenson, the tower is 64 feet high, and the lightroom has an elevation of 230 feet above high water mark. It has a dioptric light of the first order fixed, and white on every side except the east where a red light warns the mariner of the Scaw. It is approached by a long flight of steps and is only accessible in fine weather. |
