Transcriber's notes

Out Stack:
Ut-stakkr has been written in the Situation column.
"}This authority is too distant for this sheet, and he told me he knows very little of the District names of Unst: he belongs to Nesting or Delting or another district [?]" has been added to the Situation column and is attached by a bracket to the entry "Robert Douall schoolmaster Norwick" in the Authorities for spelling column. I cannot decipher the initials attached to the end of the entry which I have shown as [?].

Cliff Skerry:
Klif-sker has been written diagonally on the far right of the Authorities for spelling column.
In description remarks the word "island" shown in [ ] has been deleted and replaced by stack.

Tipta Skerry:
In description remarks the words in [ ] have been deleted. The original words were on double spaced lines and the new wording has been written at the ends of and between the old lines. The full original wording was : "The south west portion of the above island detached by a Very narrow channel." The words "very narrow channel" that remain in the amended entry appear to relate to the old wording rather than the new but they have not been crossed out.
