"We grant that in the said Burgh (Saltcoats) there may be
"Burgesses, and that the same may have power in all time coming
"to elect Bailies annually, and all other Officers necessary for the
"government of the said burgh, with power to the burgesses and inhabitants
"of the foresaid burgh of holding in the same for ever a Market place
"and a Weekly Market on the Wednesday and free fairs annually
"on the feasts of the Conception of the blessed Virgin Mother and
