030 | A farm house out offices & farm attached occupied by Mr Hugh Anderson and the property of Col. [Colonel] Mc Cathcart of Craigengillan - Mr Anderson informs me that about 150 years ago there was a considerable village between this and Town foot Cot house. If so. all vestiges of it are now completely gone - In proof of the assertion the Ironworks in the neighbourhood at & before that period stood on the opposite bank of the Water of Ayr in Auchenleck Parish - and "Greenock Town" is shown as a village in an old estate map drawn in 1771, in the possesion of William Brown Esq of Greenockmains - |

Ordnance Survey - Ayr county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Ayr, which is in the south west of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
