" The only Antiquities of which the parish can boast are
" five circular encampments, generally regarded as ancient
" British Strengths. They occupy the ridge of hills already
"described, and all of them command a view of the Sea. One of
" them is somewhat remarkable as having two parallel ditches. These encampments in all
" likelihood, belong to the period of the Danish, Irish and Scottish * invasions"
