Beith, There are 6 Farm houses bearing this name, only one of which is distinguished from the others, by the name of "High Lugton - The Occupiers of all the Farms have it "Lugtonridge" in their Tacks, it so painted on their Carts, and letters from their different Landlords and Agents are addressed "Lugtonridge" but the country people pronounce it invariably "Lugtonrig" I considered the former the better name to use having so many Proprietors and occupiers as authority. |
