045.10 | [Situation] 1/2 mile East of Kirk Hill This is the site of the Parish Church, of the ancient Parish of Ettleton. "Ettleton Parish was united to the Parish of Castleton shortly after the Reformation" (See Book of the Universal Kirk Vol [Volume] 3 page 650.) and its church was allowed to fall into decay after that period. "In 1585 it was ecclesiastically united with Castleton, and the united charge was then vacant, probably for want of adequate provision for a pastor" (See Origines Parochiales) |

Ordnance Survey - Roxburgh county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Roxburgh, which is in the south east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
