009.04 | [Continued from page 8] There is a very fine building in Roxburgh St. used as a Museum & Library - the museum was established in 1834 by the Tweedside Physical & Antiquarian Society. The library which contains about 5000 volumes was established in 1795. There are two other Libraries in the town - also the property of joint Stock Companies - they were founded in 1778 & 1800. There is a very neat building in Abbey Row, recently erected called The Billiard and Reading Room, see page 61. There are 5 branch Banks in Kelso. in connection with the Bank of Scotland, British Linen Company, City of Glasgow, Commercial Bank of Scotland & the National Bank of Scotland.
