Continued | 009.08 | [Continued from page 87] The following account, taken from "Mortons - Monastic Annals of Teviotdale", will be found interesting. "This ancient sacred eidfice has been frequently referred to by Antiquarians as one of the oldest specimens of Ecclesiastical architecture to be found in Scotland. Kelso Abbey was one of the munificient foundations of David the First; but no vestige is now left of any part but the Ruins of the Church, and of it the choir is nearly gone; but the walls of the transeps, centre tower, and west end remain. On referring to the Plan, it will be observed, that, like some others of the old Saxon and early Norman Churches, there is no nave, unless the Compartment at the western entrance, which is merely a Porch of twenty-three feet Square, may be called a nave.
