010.01 | A lane leading from the east Corner of Shedden Park to Hempseed ford across the river Tweed. Lodge Loan is written to this Lane on the plan of Kelso 1823, but this was an error. It was also an error on the same plan to write Bullet Loan to the Main Road to coldstream. One might suppose the Name to be a slight corruption of Bullock Loan, but it has long been written Bullet Loan, and may possibly have originated in the time of Hertfords attack on the abbey, as his guns would be placed in the neighbourhood. It is an excavated lane |
