009.04 | A Modern building on the east side of the Square, and erected in 1816. The ordinary public business of the Town is transacted here. An arcade for a poultry Butter and egg Market Underneath the Hall, but disused in consequence of the now common practice of disposing of the above articles at the shops in the Town, instead of wasting the best parts of a day for buyers, a practice identical with the ridiculed theory of the French and other Socialists but less comprehensive. |
