| RIVER TWEED | River Tweed | Map of Scotland Map of Berwickshire Map of Roxburghshire |
009.04 | The popular, and the really remotest source of the Tweed is a paltry fountain Called "Tweed's-well", a little above the farm house of "Tweedshaws", & at the foot of a hill named "Tweeds Cross", about 1500 feet above the level of the Sea. The Tweed, directly, or indirectly, drains nearly the whole of the Central and Eastern border Counties of Scotland and the Northern portion of Northumberland to the extent of 1870 Square Miles. From its remotest source, to the Sea at Berwick upon Tweed it, performs, irrespectively of its windings, a run of about 100 miles. |

Ordnance Survey - Roxburgh county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Roxburgh, which is in the south east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
