010.05 | A large Island, south-east of Kelso. The soil is deep earth and Sand over gravel & Shingle, but is allowed to remain in a rough state for Cattle. A deep cut or stream which supplies Wooden Mill, separates the Island from the main land. A shallow stream, sometimes quite dry in Summer flows Northward from Crown Point, and enters the Tweed a little lower down, forming a lesser Island, Considerably lower than the larger one, the side next the river being quite denuded of Soil. The whole Ana is sometimes Covered with water - after severe and heavy rains. |
