021.05 | [Continued from page 45] and again in 1464, it was placed in the same position by the Earl of Warwick. There are several markets and fairs held in the town during the year. A weekly market is held every Tuesday, and during the winter a cattle market is held on the third Thursday of each month. The Rude day fair for horses and nolt is held on the 25th September. The trade of the town is at the present time in a state of moderate prosperity. It contains a population of about 3000 souls.
