025.07 | A Stone bridge of 3 arches over the Teviot and in the town of Hawick, repaired by the County. Though of unascertained date, it bears marks of very high antiquity - some suppose that of the 10th or 11th Centy [Century]. A series of narrow abutments on the sides of the main arch rise from the water-course run along till they meet in the centre and form a semicircle - presenting a rude approximation to the architectural adornings on the porticus of ancient Cathedrals. |

Ordnance Survey - Roxburgh county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Roxburgh, which is in the south east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
