028; 029 | This name is an arm of the German Ocean extending inland in a westerly direction for about twenty-five miles and dividing the Counties of Sutherland and Ross. Formerly there were several very fine salmon fisheries in this firth, but scarcely any now exist: there are however some very valuable mussel scalps along each side of the most extensive and valuable of which are those on the foreshore immediately north of the Town of Tain and within the Royalty Boundary. They are the property of the Burgh. |

Ordnance Survey - Ross and Cromarty county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Ross and Cromarty, which is in the north of Scotland. It was formed in 1891 by uniting the separate counties of Cromarty and Ross.
