On maKing enquiries
with respect to the changing
of the Ph [Parish] name to Knockbain
it took place in 1756 when
the Parishes of Kilmuir Wester &
Suddie were united. The church
was built on a peice of ground
named Knockbain and So the
Ph [Parish] name became changed. I
have made many enquiries and
from the information gained I
believe the Proper name of the
Ph [Parish] is Kilmuir Wester and
Suddie, locally termed
Knockbain as an easier name
to term it by, in Correspondence
or Conversation.

This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Ross and Cromarty, which is in the north of Scotland. It was formed in 1891 by uniting the separate counties of Cromarty and Ross.
