002.06 | An old Church (in Ruins). It was erected in the year 1591. Sir John Shaw of Greenock Castle having obtained a Chart from James VI to erect the above Church and a Manse also to Set apart a piece of Ground for a Burying place which is adjoining the Church. The wings on the N. & S. [North & South] end wer erected about 124 years ago for the Stewart's and Carthburn's familys, The patronage belonged to Sir Michael-Shaw Stewart of Greenock. A Small Belfry is o the West end. It is about 16 years Since Divine Service was discontinued. |
