[County of Renfrew
Parish of Eaglesham]

[Hand-written Note attached]
Soame Burn, if spelled
as pronounced by the common
people, would be written Souan
Burn, as Mr Byrne has given
it on his Fenwick traces - But
I think he is wrong. On Mr.
Gilmour's Estate map, the name
Soame Burn occurs, and
Soame Bridge on Ainslie's Ph. [Parish]
Map. In both cases the
spelling is the same, and as
I have given it.
The same remarks apply to
Soame Bridge, which on the Fenwick
traces is styled Souan Bridge
[Signed] John Keely 2nd Corpl. RSM. [Corporal Royal Sappers & Miners].
