Note: "The ancient church of Kilallan was dedicated to Saint Fillan, and was named, from him, Kilfillan, which was softened into Kilillan, and Kilellan; and the modern form of this name is Kilallan." Chalmers' Caledonia vol. 3. p.837

Note: "The kirk of Killallan is still standing and the roof entire. The heritors were empowered by the decreet of annexation, to sell the Manse, which was a bad house, and the glebe, to enable them to build a Church at Houston, sufficient to accomodate the inhabitants of both parishes."
