007.06 | The ruins of what was formerly the "Parish Church" of Killallan before the Parish became united to Houston. Everything connected with this old edifice has been removed or decayed nothing now remains but the bare walls. There is a Burial Ground surrounding the Church, still used, enclosed by [a] wall 5 feet high. It appears, from "Crawfurd's History of Renfrew", that this Church was [a] dependency of the Monastry of Peasley, from the year 1225. "Chalmers" calls it St. Fillan's Church, which statement is supported in a great measure by Fullarton in his "Imperial Gazetteer of Scotland". |
