108.10 | This is the ruin of an old church, divided into three compartments by two stone partitions. it was once a Roman Catholic Church, It was a church in the year 1200, before which time nothing concerning it is known. It was dedicated to St Bean, The graveyard attached to it is still in use, The last Minister - The Revd [Reverend] Mr. Duncan - was executed for the murder of a child, It was afterwards believed that he was innocent. This was the parish Church previous to 1770, when a new church was built. |

108-11 | A rough unhewn stone, partly underground, and encompassed so far as is visible, by a stripe of stone of a lighter colour than the rest of it. Tradition records a prophecy connected with this stone in the following lines :- " Between the gatemuir slab And The Belted Stane The nobles blood Will flow like a stream" The foregoing transaction is not to take place until the belt, which is supposed to be unconnected under ground, completely encircles the stone. |
